It's better call someone a real bitch behind her back rather than to her face.
She probably already knows you think that.
That's what I should have done.
At the same time you don't want to deprive yourself of the pleasure of telling a person what you, in no uncertain terms, really think of them. The cost of not telling them can be quite high, too, as in an ulcer or hypertension, etc.
The lingua franca in America is "You are a real shit" and not "I think you're a bad person." (So What?)
The word "bitch," though still usually considered an obscenity, has come to mean, as everyone knows, "a very difficult woman" and is frequently used in casual conversation with that meaning.
Besides, I've heard people use the "f---" word at the downtown YMCA so many times and no one does anything.
At the downtown YMCA you do not call someone "an effin' white racist pig" even if (1) they are white; (2) you think they are racist; (3) they are self-centered and selfish unless (1) kiss the ass of the director (Cynthia) and (2) the person to whom you are referring is not the director (Cynthia).
Unfortunately, the ass in question was much too gross for me to consider.
